Gladstone Regional Libraries is running a Micro Poetry Competition in recognition of World Poetry Day and Harmony Day, both on Thursday 21st March 2019.

The competition is free to enter and open to Gladstone Region residents of all ages!  There are three categories for entries – Adult, High School Age, and Primary School Age.

Poems can be any style (free verse, rhyming, haiku, limerick, acrostic etc.) but there is a limit of a maximum of 8 lines.

You can enter up to three poems! But they must be printed or neatly handwritten. Further details are available on the entry form, which can be downloaded below or collected from any branch of Gladstone Regional Libraries from Tuesday 5th March.

Entries close at 5 pm on Wednesday 20th March 2019.

There will be an afternoon tea at Gladstone City Library on Thursday 21st March from 3:30 to 4:30; anyone can attend (even if you didn’t enter a poem) and the winner of each category will be announced and presented with their prizes. Bookings are requested for the afternoon tea.  Bookings can be made by phone (4976 6400) or email (
